Wi-SKY Inflight is the exclusive licensee of Wi-SKY Networks patent-pending, proprietary technology for the vertical application of 4G/WiMAX/OFDM to communication with aircraft in flight. Three years ago, Wi-SKY filed a series of US patent applications claiming intellectual property for the vertical application of the next generation wireless technology. The company’s patent attorneys have prepared a legal representation letter which summarized Wi-SKY’s position as anticipating the continued prosecution of the pending applications, as well as follow-on applications that cover further improvements, to “fully protect the unique and creative technology of the inventor.”

In addition to the concept patent mentioned above, the company is also planning to file narrow, technology-specific patents on the inventions required to modify a standard 4G radio and make it work at the distance and throughput achieved by Wi-SKY. The company believes these technology patents will also be eligible for International patent protection, and will substantially discourage vendors from attempting to develop similar radios in this market segment.
