Safety Enhancements
Wi-SKY’s high volume data transmission and related software applications assure greater flight safety by expaning pilots’ overall awareness of aircraft system conditions as well as aiding them in avoidance of potentially harmful turbulence.
Flight Data Transmission
Real-time monitoring of the Flight Data Recorder (FDR or Black Box) by ground-based automated software will immediately relay variances from aircraft system norms back to pilots. The Black Box records up to 88 parameters from up to 1,100 condition sensors throughout the aircraft. This data can sometimes accumulate up to 4 GB and is more extensive than can be displayed on cockpit instrument panels. Providing additional information to pilots will enable them to validate data displayed in the cockpit.
Transmitting FDR information to the ground will provide a record, eliminating the time-consuming search for the Black Box in aircraft disasters. When Black Box data is instantly available, investigators can immediately research potential causes of the accident and thereby more quickly recommend possible modifications of similar aircraft, if appropriate, to potentially avoid similar incidents in the future.
Real-Time Weather
Using current technology, pilots usually receive weather information from monochrome radar displays and through voice communication with ground controllers. Sometimes the magnitude of weather formations are not visible on radar or not immediately available from ground crews. Therefore, aircraft sometimes fly into unforeseen turbulence, the leading cause of air injuries.
Wi-SKY’s data link is the only viable means thus far to transmit detailed, real-time weather graphics to the cockpit. High-definition weather data allows pilots to view the intensity of sometimes hidden weather patterns. This information will enable pilots to avoid turbulent skies.
Medical Emergency
Inflight medical emergencies often result in a plane being diverted to the nearest airport, which may not always be the best solution for the individuals in need of care. In addition, landing for medical emergencies is not always necessary, and is very costly to the airline in rescheduling diverted passengers.
Wi-SKY’s extreme data link makes possible real-time emergency medical technician (EMT) monitoring of passenger vital conditions during flight. Emergency Room doctors can accurately diagnose the conditions and recommend the closest and optimal treatment center when immediate care is necessary. Doctors can also advise pilots when conditions do not require emergency landings.
Homeland Security
Security threats can arise suddenly during flights. A high-definition video feed from the cabin and cargo hold will enable flight attendants and ground security to advise pilots of appropriate actions.
Many attempts to breach inflight security can be averted by passenger awareness of the video surveillance cameras, and thus potential disruptions as well as dangerous events might be avoided.
